Sunset Sailing from Puerto Banús: Sailing Yacht or Catamaran?

Updated October 19, 2026 · 5 min read

For most people, book the sunset cruise on a luxury sailing yacht: it has the better rating (4.8 against 4.6), the drinks are part of the price and the trip runs for two hours. Choose the sunset catamaran trip if you want a livelier boat, with music and a bar, and a lower price.

What the yacht gives you

The yacht listing promises unlimited cava, white wine or beer, plus soft drinks and water, and snacks such as chips, nuts and olives, with a local skipper and blankets on board. The operator says it switches the engine off and sails whenever the wind allows. You can choose a shared small-group trip or a private one; the booking page does not state the group size of the shared trip, so ask if that matters to you. Tips are not included.

Bring something warm. The operator advises extra clothing because it can get cool once the sun sets, and the blankets are there for that reason. Free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead applies.

The boat leaves from Puerto Banús, pontoon 4, berth 339, according to the listing.

What the catamaran gives you

The catamaran trip is a shorter, louder evening. The listing mentions a DJ, chillout music, an extensive bar and bathrooms on board, and a start from the Marina Banús area (Calle Ribera 42 on the listing). It is the cheaper option and it runs for an hour and a half, so you see the Marbella skyline at sunset but spend less time on the water.

Two conditions are worth knowing. The trip runs rain or shine, and the operator says start times can slip by about 30 minutes without that counting as a reason for a refund. If you are travelling with children or want a calm evening, that and the music level are the things to weigh.

The yacht page does not mention a toilet, so ask the operator if you need one on a two-hour trip.

Who should choose what

  • Couples and small friend groups who want conversation and quiet: the yacht, ideally the private option for a special occasion.
  • Groups who want music and a party feel on a budget: the catamaran.
  • Anyone who mainly wants dolphins: neither is a dolphin trip. The most-reviewed sailing trip listed for Marbella is the small-group sailing and dolphin watching outing (4.7 from 1,372 reviews, €51). Its operator says sightings cannot be guaranteed, and it is not billed as a sunset trip.

Weather, mobility and honest limits

A sunset trip is only as good as the sky. Cloud can mute the colours, though one reviewer of the yacht still called an overcast evening beautiful. Whether a trip is cancelled for sea conditions is set by the operator, so read the cancellation terms on the booking page when you pick your date.

For people with limited mobility, the yacht listing names mobility impairments as a group it is not suitable for. The catamaran listing carries a wheelchair-accessible label from its operator. Whatever you read here, contact the operator about boarding before you book.
