Quad Tour in Marbella: Which One to Book and What the Rules Say
Updated October 19, 2026 · 5 min read
For most people, book the shared quad tour with sea views from Marbella: it starts in town, takes two hours, rates 4.9 from 86 reviews and includes a driving lesson, helmet, water and insurance. Read the licence rules below before you book, because one of them catches many couples out: a quad costs €170 whether one or two people ride it.
| Tour | Duration | Price | Rating | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shared Quad Tour with Sea Views | 2 hours | €170 per quad (€85 each if two share) | 4.9 from 86 reviews | Starts in Marbella; Río Real swim stop |
| 2 Hours Quad Tour, €170 per Quad | 2 hours | €170 per quad (€85 each if two share) | 4.8 from 30 reviews | Same start; photos and videos included |
| Off-road Quad Biking in the Mijas Mountains | 1 to 2 hours | €85 per quad (up to 2) | 4.9 from 175 reviews | Starts in the Mijas area, not in Marbella |
| CanAm Buggy Tour with Refreshments | 2 to 3 hours | €199 per buggy (up to 2) | 4.8 from 77 reviews | Starts in Estepona; a buggy, not a quad |
| Quad Tour as a Passenger, No Licence Required | 2 hours | €190 per person | no reviews yet | A guide drives; you ride behind |
The main tour: route, price and what is left out
The shared tour meets at Avenida General López Domínguez 4 in Marbella. The booking page describes dirt roads up to viewpoints over the coast, with Gibraltar and Africa visible on a clear day, a historic bridge, a swim stop at the Río Real, the village of Ojén and a return on rocky trails. Groups are capped at eight and the guide speaks English and Spanish.
The price is the detail worth reading twice. The listing says €170 per quad, regardless of whether one or two people ride, and a quad seats up to two. A couple pays €85 each; a solo rider pays the whole €170. Included are the quad, a safety briefing and driving lesson, guide, helmet, water and insurance. Food and pick-up and drop-off are not included, so you need to get to the meeting point yourself and arrive 10 minutes early. Flip-flops and sandals are not allowed. The swim stop is part of the route, but the bring-list on the page names only a driving licence and comfortable shoes, so ask the operator whether to pack swimwear.
Licence and age: who can actually ride
These are the operator’s rules as written on the booking page, not ours.
- Driver: a valid driving licence is required, and you bring it. The operator says its third-party insurance covers only drivers aged 25 or over. A licensed driver under 25 can still take part if an adult aged 25 or over signs a form agreeing to cover the cost of any incident, damage or claim. The “not suitable” list also names drivers under 21.
- Passengers: the booking page says children must be at least 7. Children under 7 and pregnant women are listed as not suitable.
- Without a licence: you cannot drive. See the passenger tour below.
The second tour on the table uses the same meeting point and the same €170 per quad. Its page also asks for drivers over 25, allows under-25s with an adult’s authorisation, and sets 7 as the minimum age for the second passenger. It lists open-toed shoes as not allowed and asks you to arrive 20 minutes early. It has only 30 reviews, so its 4.8 is a thinner base.
The alternatives, and when they make sense
Mijas mountains. This tour has the most reviews of the group (175, rated 4.9) and is listed at €85 per quad, but its itinerary starts at Las Lagunas in the Mijas area, and the meeting point depends on the option you choose. Allow for getting there. Its page asks for a full car (Type B) licence, lists drivers under 18, children under 7, pregnant women and people with back problems as not suitable, and the duration is given as 1 to 2 hours, so check which one the price covers.
Buggy from Estepona. The CanAm buggy tour starts at Camino de Montesol 159 in Estepona and runs two or three hours. The booking page says only the driver must be 18 or over with a valid licence, unaccompanied minors are not allowed, and the group is limited to six. Refreshments are mentioned, though reviewers say clearer details would help.
No licence. The passenger tour is for people who cannot or will not drive: a licensed guide drives and you ride behind. The description gives a minimum passenger age of 8, against 7 on the driving tours, and the listing has no reviews yet, so treat it as unproven.
Before you book
Bring closed shoes and sunscreen. The booking pages of the first four tours list free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance. Anything about fitness, back problems or pregnancy belongs with your doctor and the operator, not with this page.
If you would rather get wet than dusty, our guide to canyoning in the Guadalmina gorge covers the other big activity near town, and the adventure tours page lists the rest. Our pick for most people remains the shared quad tour with sea views, with the €170-per-quad rule in mind.
