Marbella With Kids: What Works at Which Age, and What to Skip

Updated October 19, 2026 · 5 min read

For most families with a child of three or older, book the guided kayak tour in Puerto Banús: the booking page says children as young as three can join with a parent and children under 7 go free, it is rated 4.9 from 26 reviews, and a life jacket is included. For a hot afternoon or a rainy one, the indoor neon minigolf costs €14 per person. Every age limit below comes from the operator’s own page, so check it again for your date; nothing here is a safety guarantee.

Toddlers and babies

The catamaran trip from Puerto Banús says it is suitable for all ages and needs no experience. It has restrooms on board, sun and shade areas, a bar and a swim stop in open water when conditions allow, and it runs in all weather. The page lists people with motion sickness and with mobility impairments as not suitable, and warns that departures can slip by about 30 minutes. One reviewer could not get a life vest for a nervous child and the child missed the trip, so ask the operator about child-size jackets before you go. A reviewer of the sunset catamaran says a stroller was allowed on board; confirm that with the operator. The small-group dolphin sailing trip names no minimum age on its page, so ask.

For seasickness in children, talk to a pharmacist or your paediatrician before the trip. Nothing on this page replaces that.

Ages 3 to 8

The Puerto Banús kayak tour starts at Ventura del Mar beach and runs two hours, with kayak, paddle, life jacket, instructor and water included. It calls itself suitable for all ages. The two NaluSur trips from Marbella’s marina, kayaking and paddleboarding by day, are labelled family-friendly without an age. The sunset paddleboard session is stricter: the booking page lists children under 8 as not suitable. Our kayak and paddleboard guide compares all four.

The indoor minigolf has 18 UV-lit holes, a UV ball and putter per player and putters in different sizes for children. Drinks and snacks can be bought there, and it is indoors, so weather does not matter. It has only 9 reviews, all five stars.

Selwo Aventura, the wildlife park in Estepona, costs from €19.90 per person (4.3 from 204 reviews). Its page sets the adult ticket at 140 cm and above, the child ticket at 100 to 140 cm and free entry under 100 cm. Food and drinks may not be brought in, unaccompanied minors are not allowed, and the ticket is non-refundable. One reviewer found the park very hilly and hard going in the heat, so it is a morning visit with a plan for breaks.

Ages 6 to 12

Canyoning in the Guadalmina gorge: one operator accepts children from 6 and recommends participants be over 12 from December to March, and another sets 8 as the minimum. The details are in our canyoning guide. The shared quad tour takes passengers from 7, but the driver must hold a licence, and the operator’s insurance covers drivers aged 25 or over only; a passenger-only quad tour gives 8 as its minimum. The buggy tour from Estepona needs drivers of 18 or over and does not allow unaccompanied minors.

What to skip with children

  • The Caminito del Rey. According to the official website, children under 8 cannot enter, and the booking page of the coach tour from Marbella lists children under 10 as not suitable (see our Caminito del Rey guide).
  • The tapas tours. The booking page of the main one lists children under 16 as not suitable, and that of the tavern tour lists children under 15 (our comparison). The cheapest one offers a reduced price for children under 10.
  • Boat hire you steer yourself. The rules changed on 1 October; read what changed first.

For more ideas by activity type, see the adventure tours and water sports pages. Our pick for most families remains the kayak tour in Puerto Banús, with minigolf as the plan for a hot or rainy afternoon.
